an act of vandalism still bemoaned by whisky lovers everywhere, the distillery was closed in 1993 and its stills removed, so today Rosebank is available only from independent bottlers like Signatory. This version is a fine indication of why Rosebank is so beloved. The almost total lack of color belies the huge flavors packed into this delicate dram. It has a smoky nose and is peaty for a Lowland. There's a sweet, honeyed taste in the front of the mouth, but the aftertaste is full of fire and bite, leading to a long, lingering finish. A powerhouse of a Lowland, and that isn't the oxymoron it sounds like.
