In 2005, on February 14, Valentine's Day, I was translating Rumi poems from English into Arabic at the Jafet Library in the American University of Beirut when around 11 am the whole library shook from the sound of an explosion... It was from the 1 ton bomb that killed Prime Minister Hariri and 22 others 2 miles away near Hotel St. George... The assassination was planned and executed by Hezbollah according to a local investigation committee and the UN Special Tribulal for Lebanon. I had recently come back to the Middle East from the USA trying to start a new life after being laid off from the IT sector in the USA... what a beginning huh? I had discovered Rumi in Los Angeles where I also developped my passion for photography. To make a long story short, I bring you these beautiful Rumi poems that i have translated into Arabic that have touched me deeply and I hope they will affect you positively too... A work of Love to defy the evil in this world and especially in the Middle East... This is part of the Mission of Amalid to bring to the Middle East an interpretation of Islam that is modern, inclusivist and non-violent.
