Below is a sample cover letter that I emailed to applying to a job: " Hello Liza, I am responding to your ad in the LA Times classifieds for Management Engineering Consultant. I hold an MS in Industrial Chemistry and have three years of experience in IT and two and half in teaching from graduate school. My roles in IT varied from tech support specialist to web designer to my final role as an IT Consultant with Spherion's IDS (Information Design Services) practice where I was involved in technical writing, instructional design and business analysis for the most part. I have superb communication, leadership and interpersonal skills. My scientific background gives me a solid foundation in statistical data analysis as I had to work with data on a day-to-day basis during my graduate research. I have had training in health-care related systems during my employment with Spherion as well. I strongly believe that I would excel at this position because I think it offers the perfect mix of technical/analytical/managerial responsibilities that would leverage and develop my skills, knowledge and abilities.
