Below are some of the ignoble contributions of fundamentalist Islam to the world. It is my firm belief that these are misinterpretations of True Islam which is the Islam of Rumi and the Sufi mystics. I write this article in my firm belief that it is time for Muslims to be liberated from the superstitions and mis-interpretations of Islam which have plagued their countries as well as the West. It is also my firm belief that the long awaited renaissance in Islam will be lead by Muslim women in the great tradition of Sufi mystic poetess, Rabia Al Adawiyyah... 1. In France, many mosques have been closed and licenses withdrawn from Islamic preachers for hate speech and teaching principles not consistent with the fundamental principles of a the secular French republic. In Australia, many muslim Lebanese are involved with gang activities and they are not very popular. I have personally met progressive muslims in High Wycombe where I live who have been advised by fanatic muslims to quit working and live off the benefits of the infidel "kuffar"... makes me sick to the stomach. 14. The 1400 year old conflict between Sunni and Shia Muslims which continues to be stoked by Islamic preachers of hate... 15. The Manchester Arena bombing: On 22 May 2017, an Islamist extremist suicide bomber detonated a shrapnel-laden homemade bomb as people were leaving the Manchester Arena following a concert by American singer Ariana Grande. Twenty-three people died, including the attacker, and 1,017 were injured, some of them children. Several hundred more suffered psychological trauma. The bomber was Salman Ramadan Abedi, a 22-year-old local man of Libyan ancestry. 16. Murder of French teacher Samuel Paty The murder of Samuel Paty, a French middle-school teacher, took place on 16 October 2020 in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, a suburb of Paris. Paty was killed and beheaded by an Islamist. Paty had, in a class on freedom of expression, allegedly shown his students Charlie Hebdo's 2012 cartoons depicting the Islamic prophet Muhammad. One of the cartoons portrayed Muhammad naked with his genitals exposed. The cartoons having been protested by many Muslims in the past, Paty preemptively permitted his students to avert their eyes or leave the room while they were displayed. The 13-year old girl who made the allegations against Paty has since confessed to lying. The perpetrator, Abdoullakh Abouyedovich Anzorov, an 18-year-old Russian Muslim refugee of Chechen ethnicity, killed and beheaded Paty with a cleaver, and was shot and killed by the police minutes later. A social media campaign against Paty was linked to his subsequent murder. Ten people have been charged with assisting the killer, including an imam, a parent of a student, and two students at Paty's school. 18. The November 2015 Paris attacks were a series of coordinated Islamic terrorist attacks that took place on Friday 13th, November 2015 in Paris, France and the city's northern suburb, Saint-Denis. Beginning at 9:15 pm, three suicide bombers struck outside the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, during an international football match, after failing to gain entry to the stadium. Another group of attackers then fired on crowded cafés and restaurants in Paris, with one of them also blowing himself up. A third group carried out another mass shooting and took hostages at a rock concert attended by 1,500 people in the Bataclan theatre, leading to a stand-off with police. The attackers were either shot or blew themselves up when police raided the theatre. The attackers killed 130 people, including 90 at the Bataclan theatre. 19. The 2002 Bali bombings occurred on 12 October 2002 in the tourist district of Kuta on the Indonesian island of Bali. The attack killed 202 people (including 88 Australians, 38 Indonesians, 23 Britons, and people of more than 20 other nationalities). A further 209 people were injured. Various members of Jamaah Islamiyah, a violent Islamist group, were convicted in relation to the bombings, including three individuals who were sentenced to death. 20. The 2005 Assassination of PM Hariri in Beirut, Lebanon ... I was actually living in Beirut at the time when a 1 ton suicide bomb killed this great man because he was opposed to the Syrian presence in Lebanon. The accused were Hezbollah Shia Islamic operatives. 21. The 2020 Port of Beirut Blast that destroyed major parts of downtown Beirut, killed approximately 200 people and wounded thousands. The explosion happened owing to the presence of hundreds of tons of ammonium nitrate stored illegally in the Beirut port which is under the control of terrorist organization Hezbollah which is funded and supported by Iran. 22. Benefits Jihad: I know an open minded Muslim of Berber ethnicity from Libya, who has a PhD in chemical engineering from the UK. He confided in me one day in High Wycombe, that he was approached by Muslims of the Salafi orientation and was encouraged not to work but to seek benefits from the "Kuffar". These Salafists who are from Algeria are a disgusting bunch that hang out occasionally at the Costa Coffee shop probably talking about how dirty the Kuffars are ... Mind you they are asylum seekers and on benefits in the UK. They are all healthy and of working age... 23.
