"For Love of the Sacred Awe"

This is my photography... This is my escape from the misery of life... in a split 1/30, 1/60, or 1/125th of a second when I see beauty, forget myself, and attempt to capture it... I do it , I live for love of the Sacred Awe...

Lee Bontecou once wrote that "at the end of the day, man either creates or destroys". Imagine then the tension, conflict and struggle behind each photograph...

Most photographers that I have studied over-emphasize the importance of technique - composition, lighting, commercial value, printing techniques, film type, camera/lens type, filters, etc. For me, all these are way less important than what I experience, what I "see", what I feel when I capture the moment. Taking photos for me is "a magic incantation" as Kazantsakis puts it. "Obscure homicidal forces lurk in our entrails, deadly impulses to kill, destroy, hate, dishonor, [possess]. Then Art appears with its sweet piping and delivers us." Nikos Kazantsakis, Zorba The Greek. THIS IS (Eccé in Latin) Photography. It has now been elevated to Philo-Photographia...

My photography encompasses landscapes, architecture, candids, different moods, but most of all, I worship women... Leonard Nemoy captured the spirit of my work in his book and exhibit "Shekhina". Shekhina is a Jewish Kaballah concept of the "female face of God"... In the end, this is what I am after: The female concept... God.

Below I have posted some of my photography work. Some of if has been compiled into titled collections.

* PS: The concept of Eccé Photo was inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche's book "Eccé Homo" (This Is Man). "Philo" is Latin for Love (as in Philo-Sohpia, Philosophy, Love of Wisdom).
