Water Cleantech Investment Consultant

Introduction

Water Cleantech Investment Consultants are a rare breed of technical adviser. In the high octane world of CleanTech investment, there are a lot of snake oil salesmen. If you are worried about investing in a CleanTech startup, and would like someone technical to help you with Due Diligence and explain the proposed technology in simple terms, you have come to the right place. My name is Rami Elias Kremesti, I am a chartered chemistry specialist and I have been working in the water treatment and chemistry world for over 25 years. I have multiple chartered credentials from the UK and I have an M.Sc. degree in chemistry from the USA. I am passionate about my field and I want to make the world a better place for my kids. Pollution is real. Climate Change is real and it is within the reach of technology to solve these problems.

The World of CleanTech Investment

The modern world is over populated and with this comes demand for clean water, waste water recycling, energy, food and natural resources. The classical technologies used for water treatment have been known for nearly 100 years. Drinking water needs to come from a wholesome clean source and needs to be filtered and disinfected so that it is safe for consumption. Waste water from domestic use needs to be settled and aerated and clarified. N and P need to be removed and bacterial numbers reduced before returning the water to the river or sea. In industry, the problems can be a little more complex as technologies like oil-water separation are needed, heavy metal removal and TDS (salinity) removal too. The emergency of Reverse Osmosis technology has made it possible to drink from the sea.

Over the years I have managed numerous water treatment projects using various technologies. I know what works and what does not work and I know the best suppliers of the components that are needed to build the technology. I also know the basic principle of processes that are marketed with catchy names and fancy marketing to package them as something innovative. I have met people that have invested in cleantech startups that are bleeding financially or have lost all their money. I also know large companies that charge exorbitant rates for simple technologies because they have massive operational and marketing costs. So there is a niche market there to solve practical water problems with a minimal budget thus creating many business opportunities.

The Ugly Side of Water Tech and Science for That Matter

Drinking water is a fundamental human right and necessity and access to sewerage is the same.  Protecting the environment is our responsibility as the creatures on top of the food chain. Human greed sometimes turns people into crooks and they will try to make a buck out of anything. In England, the privatisation of water treatment companies has led to massive while collar scams because the business model of pay per use of water is highly profitable  since it has a steady cash flow. Water companies like Thames Water entered into debt because they were mismanaged and turned into cash cows. The same way, some unscrupulous business men try to skin their clients by selling technologies that they don’t fundamentally understand and for which they over charge. The UK pays about 1500 £ per capita for water infrastructure per annum. Germany, France, Holland and Japan pay about 100 USD per annum per capita. This is a massive scam and the politicians and media keep mincing their words about it. Design mistakes are sometimes made also in water treatment projects which lead to disputes and cost over-runs or end up in court. Human greed and arrogance is behind all financial crises, suffering and wars. For this, every human enterprise or government requires some kind of voice of reason and a strong ethical compass.

Of course what I am talking about applies to all types of human enterprises. Even science itself has become corrupted. Thousands of useless papers are being published, hundreds of useless PhD research projects are being undertaken, billions are wasted funding useless experiments…

In Conclusion

If you need technical advice related to investment in cleantech, please reach out for a confidential consultation. The future requires massive investment in fighting pollution and climate change, and as in any investment opportunity, you need to do your due diligence.
